The final program for the American Water Resources Association's (AWRA) 43rd Annual Conference, November 12-15, Embassy Suites Hotel, Albuquerque, NM, is hot off the press. [Disclosure notice: I am the general chair].
This conference promises to be one of the best. I don’t use the word “best” lightly; we received over 420 abstracts, an all-time record. The presentations are organized into 81 oral/panel and 6 poster sessions, featuring over 300 talks and 100 posters.
So there are over 400 presentations - why else attend? How about:
- Two exceptional Sunday field trips
- Keynote address by Cynthia Barnett, author of Mirage: Florida and the Vanishing Water of the Eastern U.S., who will also be signing books
- Opening networking reception (Monday)
- Special showing (Monday) of the film Waterbuster with filmmaker J. Carlos Peinado
- Awards luncheon (Wednesday) keynote address by the dynamic Rep. Jackie Dingfelder (D-OR), state legislator and environmental professional
- Panel discussions on Reviving the Santa Fe River, Water Policy, Climate and Water Issues, and more!
- Corporate and Book Exhibitors
- Special sessions on Distributed Hydrologic Modeling, Energy-Water, Urban Ecosystems, Hydrophilanthropy, and more!
- A memorable Tuesday night Southwestern extravaganza at Dusty Nussbaum's Los Amigos Roundup Ranch
- Student Career Night (Wednesday)
