Emily Green reports on an informative walk through the Rio Grande bosque (riparian forest) with James Cleverly of the University of New Mexico and John Fleck of the Albuquerque Journal.
Cleverly conducts research on evapotranspiration (ET) and reports on what will happen to streamflow and groundwater levels in the area as temperatures increase. It's not pretty, although recall that increased ET in one area means increased atmospheric moisture, which could produce precipitation elsewhere.
That's why we call it the hydrologic cycle.
Also read about some interesting climate research by my former colleague David Gutzler.
