DARPA's Transparent Earth project seeks to use sensor technoolgy to develop 3D images of what Earth looks like at depth.
Pretty neat stuff, huh? But the energy companies are doing the same thing, and I'd bet that they are far ahead of DARPA, an acronym for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
I've actually stood within a small cube that gives you the perception that you are standing within Earth. It's nothing compared to a larger version one of the oil companies has.
Lest you wonder what else DARPA does, keep in mind that they are largely given credit for supporting/conducting the research that led to the Internet. The first email message was sent in 1969 under the auspices of an ARPA (their original moniker) research project.
And if you wonder why the Internet is useful, consider that someone is now concocting a post reporting that the USA is using this technology to discern the properties of South America's Guaraní aquifer so that we can steal all its water.
Ain't conspiracies grand!
Thanks to Kevin McCray of NGWA for alerting me to this incredible tool with which we will dominate the underworld.
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." -- Arthur C. Clarke
Quite early in life as a child living in what once was a quite isolated desert environment of Las Vegas, Nevada, we quickly learned the term US Dept of Defense and the public good was the quintessential oxymoron ... and it appears it remains so today...
Why would anyone believe the 3D technology referenced in the above posting would be shared with the pubic when it can be successfully used by corporate interest$ to screw the public...?
