Forgive the title; I needed something to attract your attention. That's the way it is with toilets and sanitation. When was the last time you saw or heard an A-list (or any list!) Hollywood star espouse the need for sanitation, even though far more people are in need of that than clean water?
So you've got that right - today is World Toilet Day. Normally I'm not big on 'days' but this one is different because toilets and sanitation are not on everyone's minds. And there is great reluctance to discuss these issues publicly.
November 19th each year is World Toilet Day - a day to celebrate the importance of sanitation and raise awareness for the 2.6 billion people (nearly half of the world's population) who don't have access to toilets and proper sanitation.
And the lack of sanitation impacts women and girls more than men and boys.
Oprah, wherefore art thou?
"2.6 billion people worldwide are without access to proper sanitation, which risks their health, strips their dignity, and kills 1.8 million people, mostly children, a year". -- WTD WWW site
