Shill alert! You'll see why.
The current (September 2017) issue of AWRA's Water Resources IMPACT just hit the streets and features ten short (900 - 1500 words) articles on various aspects of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR). The articles are designed for the elusive 'intelligent layperson' or the professional who wants an introduction to the MAR topic. The editors are yours truly and Maria T. Gibson, the groundwatergeek herself.
The cover photo shows the Thomas E. Levy Groundwater Replenishment Facility in La Quinta, CA, operated by the Coachella Valley Water District (courtesy of Maureen Perry of the CVWD).
I am unable to provide free PDFs of the entire issue but I can provide a sampler that contains the ToC and the first page of each article:

I will take the liberty of posting PDFs of the papers by Maria (1) and myself (2).
Maria's article is The Regulatory Environment of Managed Aquifer Recharge in the United States and Its Spatial Shortcomings. It is an excellent introduction/summary of some of the issues one must face depending upon where the planned MAR operation is to be located.

Here are my two articles. The first one - Growing Up...with Managed Aquifer Recharge - recounts my
'childhood adventures' on 1950s Long Island, NY, and the 'sumps' (recharge basins) I encountered. It also provides an overview of all the articles in the issue:

My second article is yet another description of my idea to recharge melting glaciers: Harvesting Glacial Meltwater with Manged Aquifer Recharge.

If you are not an AWRA member you can purchase a paper copy of the entire issue (42 pages) for $17. Contact the AWRA office ([email protected]) with 'IMPACT' in the subject line for more information.
