Dear AWRA Membership:
We are announcing that AWRA's Editor in Chief, Venkatesh (Venki) Uddameri, has informed the JAWRA Board Committee and the AWRA Board of Directors of his intention to resign due to personal and professional demands and he has encouraged the JAWRA Board Committee to post a new EIC position as soon as possible.
AWRA seeks a new editor-in-chief (EIC) for its flagship publication, the Journal of the American Water Resources Association (JAWRA). Now in its 58th year, JAWRA is dedicated to publishing original papers characterized by their broad, multidisciplinary approach to water resource issues.
JAWRA’s goal is to be the journal of choice for top authors writing
multidisciplinary papers about water resources research, management, education, and policy. JAWRA’s impact factor has steadily increased over the past decade and is currently 3.202 (2020 Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics), putting it in the top tier of professional water resource publications.
We are also working with Venki to provide interim support with EIC duties that will keep the journal operating efficiently until a new permanent EIC is found. Venki has graciously offered to help with all transitional activities and we are hopeful that under his guidance, the new EIC will be able to perform and grow JAWRA in all the ways that Venki has in his tenure. The entire AWRA community will sorely miss Venki and the new person will have big shoes to fill; however, we appreciate his willingness to support the transition and ensure the continued success of the journal.
The EIC position is posted to several reputable sites and all JAWRA Associate Editors (AEs) are encouraged to send in recommendations to the JAWRA Board Committee. In addition, the AWRA membership community should apply if interested or send in recommendations.
The goals of the JAWRA Board Committee and the AWRA Board of Directors is to ensure the health, reputation, and scientific integrity of the Journal. We appreciate your support at this time.
