From Josh:
Doing my part to inform about the United Nations 2023 Water Conference given it’s a big part of my (actual) water work right now. Only the second ever UN conference on water and first since 1977 (stay tuned for some writing I will do on the subject). I bring this up, because the last opportunity to register to go to the conference just opened up and lasts until 2 December. The caveat is that individuals can’t register for the conference. Only organizations can get accredited (and then send delegates). It’s the same for NGOs, universities, the private sector, etc.. National and sub-national governments have to attend with their respective national delegations. Students, you can go! But you must encourage your universities to get accredited. Professors, get your universities accredited and help fund your students to go (the conference itself is free)! It’s a unique experience to be able to witness active discussions (and even potentially make interventions) in the UN on water (although eye-opening in maybe more ways than you’d like). It’s not widely publicized yet, but there will most likely be a “water week” in New York the entire week around the conference as well, which will include additional side events, arts and culture, and I’m sure dozens of other sub-conferences, programming, etc. Just all the more reason to attend. If I find bandwidth, I will be organizing events on water jobs both in and outside the building (including, of course, a major drinks event). It’s going to be World Water Week/World Water Forum on speed. Please go to the links above for more information. On to the jobs!
