I am sending this on my own; Josh did not ask me to do so. I know how much effort goes into his site and the impact it has so I thought I would help him along. Below is the same meaages many of you have received via email.
After the generous funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) ran out in December of 2021 that allowed us to build the new website, start the podcast, make our blog more active and make lots of plans for the future, we’ve been skating by this last year making ends meet to maintain the upkeep of the website.
We’re now looking to keep the platform going, but also get back to what we were doing in 2021, clean up the site a bit in terms of its functionality and make another leap in terms of what we bring you the jobseeker and the employer. New plans include personalized email alerts, decentralized platforms by (some) countries and regions, webinars, member profiles, gender equity initiatives, and more!
The idea is to become self-sustaining, but we are not quite there yet, so we need your help!
There are a few ways you can chip in:
Donating: The most straightforward way to help us out. You can provide a monthly recurring contribution here. Other ways to donate can be found here. Every little bit does help. Please consider giving back if the platform has helped you in some way, even in saving time!
Sponsoring: We’re open to sponsorship! The visibility is significant, and this website makes a difference in people’s lives, especially young professionals. This will especially be the case as we expand our career development services. Please contact me directly at [email protected].
Featuring your jobs: This is a win-win for organizations and us in that you get your jobs featured on the website, on our social media platforms and in the weekly jobs list and we get your support.
Advertise with us: We do have advertising opportunities on the website. You can see some of the available slots here and here, and on every job page. The latter link gets tens of thousands of views per week. We would rather these come from the water community (i.e., university programs, consulting firms, etc.) instead of using Google ads.
Other opportunities: I don’t think most people realize that I myself find 95% of the jobs that go on the website. It’s a manual search through 150+ websites. As you all know, searching for a job in “water” is not easy. If anyone can help us make a connection with a university department (student project?) or tech firm that could help us design a web crawler, that would be much appreciated. It’s quite complicated, but even something that helps narrow what I look at on a daily basis would be a huge help. Again, please contact me directly.
Thank you so much! We really want to make the job search experience better for everyone!
Josh
