The links below represent the week's water news as represented by my Tweets. I do not pretend that this survey is a comprehensive survey of the water news; it's my attempt to keep my readers informed to the best of my ability and available time. Links will not appear in more than two categories (excluding the very first category). I have also added two more 'Daily Water Newsletters' to increase coverage. These are the Midcontinent US Water News Daily (#MCUSwater) and the Southeast US Water News Daily (#SEUSwater). The former samples news media within 500 miles of Kansas City, KS and the latter within Knoxville, TN). With the other seven dailies this affords pretty good daily coverage for the USA.
Scroll down to 'Positions Open' and 'Previous Weeks' Positions Open' to see the jobs. All my individual job Tweets are archived at #JobWaWi. Previous weekly summaries are archived at: #WaWiNews or click here. If a link does not work, paste the URL into your browser.

Personal, People, Interviews, and Quotes
Quote of the Day - “I suspect our species has been kissing for as long as we’ve been on Earth.” Evidence of smooching from sources up to 11,000 years old seem to counter the hypothesis that kissing was invented around 3,500 years ago on the Indian subcontinent. In @washingtonpost
Quote of the Day - “There’s a competing experience of both beauty and horror.” Marvels come from extreme weather - rare wildflower superbloom that's followed intense CA rain-can trigger conflicting feelings-climate psychologist Leslie Davenport. “Make room for it all,” she says.
Quote of the Day - “In certain fields of science, people pride themselves in doing ‘useless’ work.” Some scientists view their work like art - but even these efforts sometimes turn out to have wide-ranging applications, says biologist Andreas Wagner.
Quot of the Day - “The idea is that we eliminate evaluation of results from the evaluation of science, so that we can select based on quality rather than based on which results were positive or significant.” Neuroscientist Chris Chambers in @Nature
Quote of the Day: “I tell my students I have become a hunter … I hunt for grants.” Africa has talented scientists who can address their continent’s challenges, says materials chemist Emmanuel Unuabonah — but a lack of funding is holding them back. (@NatureCareersPodcast)

"Admin 101: Never let your lack of experience or empirical evidence get in the way of your certainty about the right course of action for the college." - @ass_dean
"We are pleased to announce our experiment with beer sales during graduation was a great success. The college made money on $12 beers and there was only one incident. Since it involved an Econ professor and his PhD student, we really can’t blame the alcohol." -
